Goodbye, 2016…hello, 2017! Looking forward to a new, fresh start on the blog in 2017 also means reflecting back on 2016 and making sure we continue with what works. So I looked back at the numbers and found my top 10 posts from the year. And was a bit surprised to see the variety: Disney, Netflix, Valentine’s Day and a serial killer made the cut!
Welcome to the New Year on SherryBoswell.com! Without getting too far into this year, I thought we might take a look back at 2016 ever so briefly. I’m doing it to see what really resonated with readers so I write more of that in the coming year. Not surprisingly, a majority of the most popular posts have to do with Disney and travel, followed by special events/seasonal posts, and two about Valentine’s Day and romance. Awww! So without further ado, let’s countdown…
The Top 10 Posts of 2016
10. 10 Best Romantic Movies Streaming on Netflix
Anytime a post centers on Netflix or good sappy movies (or both), it’s going to apparently be a hit.
9. 25 Things: An Afternoon with Glennon Melton (Part Two)
I traveled to Charleston for this live event featuring the inimitable Glennon Melton, the creator of Momastery and New York Times best selling author. She is an amazing truthteller and speaks from the heart. I attempted to share her knowledge, but found there to be so much goodness that I had to split it into two posts.
8. Top Disney Deluxe Resorts: Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts
I recently shared my love of Disney’s Beach Club Resort on TravelingMom. Truthfully, you can’t go wrong with either of these two sided-by-side resorts that share what is arguably the best Disney resort pool.
7. 12 Holiday Events in Greenville
I’m really excited that a local events posts did so well. Then again, finding great holiday events in the area is something families are looking for. It’s about sharing experiences, not always stuff. Or so I like to say.
6. 25 Things From Glennon Melton’s Talk at Charleston Music Hall (Part 1)
This sister post to #9 also made this year’s top 10. She shared a ton of nuggets with us during her talk, but my favorite had to be about sistering:
“Sisterhood is the phenomenon that occurs when women quit seeing each other as mirrors, or reflections of themselves, and start seeing each other as one-of-a-kind works of art. Sisterhood happens when women view each other as deep wells of support and inspiration–as teammates–instead of competitors.” Preach!
5. Top Disney Deluxe Resorts: Polynesian Village Resort
I love Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as much for sentimental reasons as I do for the new additions. Could it have been the ‘Ohana Twilight Feast? The Hippopoto Mai-Tai in Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto? The Dole Whip from Pineapple Lanai? (You can see I’m rather food and beverage focused!) Maybe all of the above! Next up on the bucket list: staying at Polynesian Villas and Bungalows!
4. Valentine’s Day Ideas and Giveaway Thanks to Ghirardelli Chocolate and Josh Cellars Wine
Add chocolate, wine, and a giveaway, and it’s a sweet treat! Especially for a Valentine’s Day themed post.
3. Turns Out I Know the SC Serial Killer
While I needed to take a cold shower to write this one, it also attracted a lot of views. In fact, it was my most viewed post for a single day. Creepy story!

And then there were two left. The top 2 posts show the power of Pinterest and how much readers here on the blog love Disney. Now to add more like these so I can have a record-setting 2017!
2. 5 Tips for Celebrating Birthdays at Walt Disney World
This was a labor of love reminiscing about trips to Disney for my son’s first birthday and my 40th birthday. I can’t imagine a better place to celebrate a birthday at least once!
And the number one post for 2016 is (drumroll please)…
1. Packing for a Walt Disney World Trip.
I worked on this post after we got back from our Disney trip. My suitcase was still out, so I loaded it up and took photos and voila!
I’d like to thank each and every one of you for reading and for giving me the motivation to keep on blogging while also juggling my legal work. They are definitely opposite ends of the spectrum!
