To Pinterest or not to Pinterest…that is the question!

January 27, 2012 by Sherry Boswell

So I need some help-tell me why you do Pinterest and why I should too! I really need you to sell it to me because as much as it sounds like something I would LOVE, I am intentionally reigning in myself and saying NO unless I can get some serious tangible benefits.

Will it leave me pining for “things” that others have as I gaze enviously at their pins? I get it that is sounds like the virtual equivalent of all those torn out pages from magazines that I have (darn, all that time tearing wasted!) and I see the benefits but do I really have the time? Will it be a blessing or yet another “time suck”? Help a sister out-let me know!!!

Oh, thanks for this. Hope you get some answers because I was just thinking the same thing. I pulled it up once, but didn’t want to create a log in just to look around. Everyone I know who uses it seems to be addicted. But I resisted Facebook for a long time, too. lol

I’ll do it eventually but for now, it’s good to say no to something for a change! Resistance to FB is futile LOL! Glad you joined 🙂

I was wondering the same thing, as I signed up for Pinterest a few days ago. It can be a real time sink if you spend a lot of time just browsing the pages of your followers, etc. BUT, here is where I find it useful, as you allude to in your post. Imagine one place to pin all of the things that you search on the web and bookmark or print for later. You can pin these to your pinterest account in neat ‘boards’ so that you always know where they are! From favorite recipes, to things that you want to try, it’s a great way to keep track of everything. It is fun to see what your friends are into, but I suppose on the other hand I’m not sure that there’s a way to keep your pins private. So a stranger could know easily the kinds of things that you’re into.

Krista, that’s a good point about privacy. I think I would enjoy it and could limit how much time I spend but I don’t want to do it because everyone else is doing it, ya know? And since I’m not into it now, it’s easy to just stay off it. I know once I dive in, I will be hooked! I’ll look for you when I get on 🙂
