Random Acts of Kindness Calendar

November 28, 2017 by Sherry Boswell

The word for today is Giving because it’s GIVING TUESDAY. Let’s go nuts with generosity today and for that matter EVERY day. With the movie Wonder encouraging us all to Choose Kind, we could all use more kindness and generosity, don’t you agree? To that end, we’ve got a Holiday Random Acts of Kindness calendar and a few ideas to spread Christmas cheer and maybe get us all grinning from ear to ear. Sorry Grinch, not that kind of grin!

We’ve moved from Black Friday to Cyber Monday, and now it’s Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is a “global day dedicated to giving back” and where people can “come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.” Sounds simple doesn’t it? The best concepts usually are.

Giving Tuesday

Here’s how we can participate. Find a cause or something that aligns with our passions and just go nuts! And no, we aren’t necessarily talking about just giving money. Remember the phrase “time talents and treasures”? It means that as well. So if cash is scarce, then perhaps working at a local food bank or nursing home would be a better match.

So in perfect harmony with the theme of today–GIVING–here’s another key concept: KINDNESS. Always choose kind is the lesson from the book and movie Wonder. I haven’t seen it yet (partially because I know I will go through a box of tissues) but it’s on my family holiday movie list. Any movie that encourages kindness and has the hashtag #choosekind is going to get my vote (and my money).

What better way to embrace kindness through the entire holiday season than with a Random Acts of Kindness Calendar? We’ve got this one filled with suggestions of tangible actions that you could do this holiday season. But don’t think we are limited to just these 25 days!

Tip: Looking for an easy treat to give out? Candy canes pair perfectly with notes of encouragement. Talk about spreading merri-MINT! Whether picking up a coffee or in the drive-thru or grocery store line, they are sure to bring a smile!

Now it’s your turn! Have any random acts of kindness that you like to do? Please share them in the comments!

Love the ideas you shared! Even something small like picking up trash at a park is a way to contribute beauty to the world for others to enjoy.

Another idea is to give a bonus Mother’s Day to a mom in your life, complete with chocolate, flowers and a card. They won’t see it coming, and it will let them know they are appreciated, not just on Mother’s Day.

Thanks! Amazing what we can do when we set our minds to it. Having a calendar or list helps make me more intentional about it.
