Disney Character Couture Makeovers
It’s called the Disney Character Couture makeover, and it had me grinning from ear to ear bigger than the Cheshire cat after my transformation was complete. As a girlie girl, I am all about the pampering and splurging on makeovers. So it was a no brainer that I HAD to try one of these during my most recent trip to Walt Disney World.
We’re answering all the questions about this unique experience that brings Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo makeovers to adults!
Thanks to Disney for providing a complimentary Character Couture makeover. All opinions about my transformation from SPOILER ALERT…the Beast into Belle are my own.
WHAT ARE CHARACTER COUTURE MAKEOVERS?
So character couture is all about being inspired by Disney characters and letting the stylists use their creativity and talent to transform clients. Think Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo for kids AND adults! Having taken my daughter for many of those makeovers in Cinderella Castle, I was thrilled that I can finally get in on that action, too!
Special shoutout to my stylist Yarie-she was AMAZING! Truly my fairy godmother because I needed to be uplifted when I arrived at the salon.
Having got caught in a rain storm at Hollywood Studios, I looked like a drowned rat when I arrived at the Ivy Trellis Salon at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for my makeover. Reminded me of this scene from Beauty and the Beast:
See the resemblance? So it seems only fitting that I chose Belle as my character inspiration for my makeover. She IS my favorite Disney character, so it just felt right.
The process of being pampered is quite relaxing, and Disney fans will be thrilled that there is an adult makeover option now at Walt Disney World. Here’s the process in a nutshell:
And the results please…I was ecstatic!
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
Pick out your character before you go. Bring your clothing options and change into them a little before your appointment.
The goal is to go in with dry hair. (Ahem, unless you get caught in a rainstorm like I did.) In other words, washing and drying would be extra. These are timed appointments, and we wouldn’t want to limit the time for the stylists being able to work their godmother magic.
Plan to have on or bring foundation, concealer, and powder. The makeovers do not include this (although at press time this is available for an additional charge).

CHARACTER COUTURE INSIDER TIPS:
1. Think outside the box!
The stylists seem to get a kick out of the challenge and really channel their creativity into every makeover. Princesses and heroes and villains, oh my! It’s not just princesses. Come in with plans to be a hero like Buzz or Woody…
…or a villain like Cruella de Vil or Ursula.
2. Do Some Wardrobe Planning.
Plan to wear some Disney inspired clothing or attire and have an outfit picked out ahead of time. Whether it’s a nod to the character like a hairpiece or a full on Disneybound outfit, the character that inspired you will be obvious to others. Then make sure to go take photos at one of the parks with corresponding characters or at the attractions.
I WISH it had not been raining so much or I would have hightailed it over to Magic Kingdom to get photos in front of Be Our Guest, Gaston’s Tavern, and Enchanted Tales with Belle.
3. These Will Book Up FAST!
My hunch is that these makeovers will be the most popular for guests attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Let me tell you, these appointments will book up FAR in advance. So if you are planning on attending either of these events, make reservations NOW.
4. Nails weren’t necessary.
To be honest, I really didn’t need the nails portion of my package. It only includes a basic coat of polish and one or two Jamberrys on the nails.
