Disclaimer: I received free movie passes to see Moms’ Night Out from MomSelect. (Thank you!) But rest assured, my review is totally unbiased and truthful.
Winning free movie passes is great, right? But when you score said tickets to a movie screening, it’s all the sweeter. And then add the fact that it’s on a Tuesday night and you can go with a friend? That’s off the charts! I invited my friend Rebecca who is also a fellow attorney and a new mom, so I was thrilled that she could get a night out from her little one. So we were able to attend the movie screening for Moms’ Night Out. So what is Moms’ Night Out about exactly? A mommy blogger of three is at her wits end and in serious need of some grownup time, so she and her buds set out for a moms night out with high expectations. Well, they got a crazy night out alright, just not like she planned! (Spoiler-free zone here so you can enjoy all the hilarity that follows.)
When I heard about the cast, I knew this movie was going to be good. You had me at Sean Astin, who played the supportive husband and dad (hello, loved him since my Goonies phase)! Patricia Heaton (who stars in AND also produced the movie with her husband), Sarah Drew (from Grey’s Anatomy), and the biggest surprise was Trace Atkins–he really cracked me up! The men were strong, supportive and compassionate, which is refreshing considering how negatively some movies and TV shows have portrayed men.
So who should see this movie? Well, moms of course, but it certainly isn’t limited to just women. In fact, it is an all-around family-friendly movie. Take your girlfriends, invite your spouse or boyfriend, heck, bring the whole family! You won’t be disappointed because laughter is universal and transcends age or gender. Haha’s for all, I say!
